Adding Annotations

Add text, arrow, and line annotations using the annotation toolbar buttons.

Important: Annotations are not anchored to the axes. If you resize or move the axes, or create new subplots, you probably will need to move or resize the annotations afterwards. For this reason, resize or move the axes before adding annotations. For the same reason, add titles and axes labels using the Edit Axes Properties dialog box, as described in Setting Axes Properties, rather than creating them as annotations.

   1.
Click a toolbar annotation button, either text, arrow, or line.

This automatically starts plot edit mode if it is not already on. The cursor shape changes to an I-beam for text and to a crosshair for arrows and lines.
Alternatively, you can select Add from the Tools menu to add an annotation.
   2.
Move the cursor to the area where you want to locate the annotation and then create the annotation.

Changing Annotations

You can change annotations. Specifically, you can:

See Changing Text, Arrows, and Lines for instructions.
