Reducing Startup Time with Toolbox Path Caching

You can significantly reduce MATLAB startup time by using the MATLAB toolbox path cache. The toolbox path cache stores search path information for all toolbox directories under the MATLAB root directory.

This can be especially useful in remote client access installations, where users access MATLAB over a network. (See Remote Client Access Configuration for more information.) During startup, MATLAB obtains path data from the cache rather than by reading it from the remote file system.

To use toolbox path caching, select Preferences from the MATLAB File menu. On the Preferences dialog box, select the General preferences panel and select the Enable toolbox cache check box. To learn more about toolbox path caching, click the Help button in the Preferences dialog box.
