Upgrade Installations
Always install MATLAB in a new installation directory, even for upgrade installations. The installer creates a new installation directory for each release by default, for example, MATLAB6p5
. You do not need to delete an existing MATLAB installation before installing R13. You can run multiple versions of MATLAB on the same system.
Upgrading and MATLAB Preference Files
MATLAB stores your preference information, such as command history and help favorites, in preference files. The installer does not overwrite these preference files if they already exist on your system. Multiple MATLAB installations on the same system will use the same preference files.
Note The uninstaller provided with versions of MATLAB before Release 12.1 deletes these preferences files. If you plan to remove one of these MATLAB installations, you may want to save your MATLAB preference files first. See Saving Your MATLAB Preferences for more information. |
