Starting maptool
You can start maptool
in one of three ways:
If a figure does not already exist, starting maptool creates a new figure window with additional pull-down menus and mouse buttons. If a figure window already exists, starting maptool adds the menus and mouse buttons to the existing figure.
If an initial map projection is not provided at the command line, the Projection Control dialog box will appear, with the Robinson projection as the default. This dialog is used to define the map axes settings. All mapping functions activated through maptool will be associated with this map axes. If maptool is applied to a figure that already has a map axes, the menus and mouse buttons are simply added to the existing figure window, and the Projection Control box does not appear.
In the upper left corner of the figure is a set of three mouse tool buttons that allow interactive display manipulation.
